does anybody have any information on the large victorian house on the northeast corner of south shore drive and cheltenham place. i think the address is 7847 s. south shore drive. i drive past it all the time and i'm constantly impressed by it. it seems really out of place compared to all the other houses in the area.

It's got a photo and caption in the 'Chicago Mansions' book published by Arcadia, but not much other information. The caption reads in part:
'The Queen Anne mansion at 7839 S. South Shore Drive was built around 1880...this is one of the few structures remaining on South Shore Drive from this era...'

The website for Church Of St. Bride says that when the church was founded in 1893, its first pastor lived in the house.
