In the '60's Old Town had lotsa clubs, folk, spoken word, coffee houses, blues, rock, dixieland etc. I'm interested in the Old Town Gate, the Blue Moon and Big John's.There seemed to be a hot ten years between the start of the Kingston Trio folk boom in 1958 and the democratic convention in '68.(Daley declared no liquor could be sold between Roosevelt and North Avenue, lucky for the Earl Of Old Town and not anybody else.

There was the Old Town Pump (wells/eugenie) and the Gate of Horn (Dearborn/Chicago?? Memry fails)...are you by chance conflating the two names? There was also Quiet Knight (on Wells? Or Sedgwick? before moving to Belmont) And a club I cant recall the name of, in the building behind the Mexican restaurant, on Sedgwick, just south of Armitage.

There was a club at 1545 N Wells in 1967. It was in the basement. Anyone remember what it was called?
