Photos from the FC 6 Corners tour. We got an inside look at the Portage Theater, Klee Building and the currently being rehab'd Straus and Schram building.

I pretty much miss the old days of 6 corners. With Woolworth's, Alpine Market, General Camera, Kee Department Store, et al.

What is FC, is that just the Flicker tour thing?
I could see that Mayfair stop from the bedroom of the house I grew up in on Kostner and Cullom.
I used to work at the Sears at 6 Corners in the Toy Department.

FC = Forgotten Chicago. When I go on their (excellent) walking tours, I take photos and post them on Flickr for others to see.

I just discovered this board, and used to live in the Six Corners area from 1964 to 1978, when I was a kid. I wish I had more to offer than just stories. There might be a couple of slides around my dad's house I can convert, but that's well in the future right now.
I haven't been in Chicago since June, 2004, and I can't begin to tell you how much I miss it, and how much I appreciate seeing and reading some of the contributions.
It's certainly made my day!

DUH! After posting that I realized what a gaf I made.
How do we know when there is a walking tour and where it's going?
Is that a dumb question too?
