Hi there,
I'm trying to remember a Pontiac dealer on Archer ave. In the 80's/90's.
On the commercials his mother would bake cookies for you if you bought a Pontiac
Does anyone remember these commercials, I've been racking my brain trying to
remember...

Howard Pontiac

In 1978, the “Howard’s Mother Loves You” television campaign debuted; which started the tradition of giving customers chocolate chip cookies when they purchased a car.

You can even find a few of the old commercials on Youtube.

me alone... And it was on Grand Ave, not Archer...
Thanx Again...

Anyone remember the name of "Your singing Ford dealer"?

("Rock-a-bye your babeeee!")

I think its Bert Weinman Ford.
But the Pitchman who did the singing was a different personality from the Dealer himself.

That was Harry Schmerler Ford. My neighbor bought a car from them and he sang to her when handing her the keys. I do remember that in some of his ads he'd sing 'In The Good Old Summertime'.

The prize goes to WayOutWardell. But since you brought Bert Weinman into the discussion Lance, does anyone remember the actual name of his pitchman?

Howard Pontiac is now Howard Buick/GMC and no more 'Mom' stickers on the cars, or any signage.

Aiming for a more modern upscale customer, not 'Big Blow outs' of cheap Grand Ams.

Schmerler Ford became Roasch Ford and moved to Bensenville. Building in Elk Grove now sells fork lifts and industrial equipment. But, Schmerler's hey day was the era of Ford Country Squire wagons with fake wood trim.

Looking at it now, he was a pretty decent pitchman - a lot of the dealers who do their own spots are terrible.

Speaking of dealer owners as pichmen, Al Piemonte hasn't been in any recent ads. Used to have an Al ad on their website. Now, it's his son pitching sales, whom I met once.
