Wayout, there was a CD soundtrack for Crime Story but that was a while ago. I don't think it is around any more. Try Rolling Stones Records.

If you want to make your soundtrack for yourself, here is a list of the songs from the show by each episode. You will have to download each one. This list is in progress.

I saw Crime Story online but I will have to fine it again and pass along that info to you.

Ha! That's actually the soundtrack list I've compiled! I'm about half-way through season two. There is a definite drop-off in the use of 'oldies' as the show continues.

I lived on Augusta Blvd at the time and remember seeing no parking signs that mentioned Crime Story being filmed. Right down the street from the Polish museum heading west. There was a Texaco station with an original sign at Noble & Augusta. I didn't see any actual filming for that but I did see them filming at Div-Ash-Mil on the north side of Mil in front of Slodkowski's (I think that was the name-deli with cafeteria service) with period cars & people in costume.

I can’t remember the address, but the Crime Story production offices were near the Loop (I’m thinking on Ohio Street, or somewhere nearby) on the near West Side. I was installing telephones then, and did some work there in early ’86, when they were setting up.

Regarding the "UFO House" on Dee Road - I lived in NW Park Ridge for a long time, and in 1986-87 I lived in the Dee / NW Highway area. Never a week went by that I didn't pass that house and find a few dressing trailers parked there. I figured there was filming going on, due to the nature of the house's design. I have the MLS sheet from Baird & Warner Realtors (1987) for the place. It was up for sale, asking price of $695,000.

And, to top it off, there is a building that's almost a carbon copy of 131 N. Dee, obviously designed by the same architect, in Spring Green, Wisconsin (home of the House on the Rock and Taliesin). It's a bank on Jefferson street. Google Earth Street View yields a few views of it.

Nice, thanks for pointing that out!

It looks like the Dee Rd. house is one of the few JR McDonald buildings in the Chicago area - most of his work is in Racine, Kenosha or in Florida.
