Cragin Department Store at Armitage and Lawler. So many people from the neighborhood shopped there for many generations. They shut down in 1997 after being in business for 73 years.

anybody mention Gore & Kaye discount store on Milwaukee Ave yet (around 1500 N.)? Also First Distributors around 4200 W. North Ave. On Lake St (near Wells) there was a great little store to buy Lionel Trains from at a discount price back in the '60s, and I can't remember its name. Spiegel Sales on North Ave & Spaulding was a great place for me to buy slot cars (also @ discount) back then too.
