We used to go to the Kiddeeland just north of the harlem irving Plaza on harlem. They had a train that went all the way around the exterior and thru a tunnell, a Tilt-A-Whirl, a game room, and years ago, pony rides. We used to collect Bowman milk bottle tops and get 2 for 1 ride tickets which were 15 cents each. Torn down in late 60s to build Unity Bank.

I ran across a old 1962 advertisement for Bowman's dairy with a promotions to get half price tickets for amusement parks. They identified the amusement park at Harlem and Irving as Kiddytown with another Kiddytown on 95th street.

Did Kiddyland ever buy out Kiddytown or were they independent operations?

Lets discuss ADVENTURELAND in Addison,IL. As a child of 6-7 I loved our visits and people I know that had been there have great memories as well. There are also some with not so great memories in the later years. What is the DEFINITIVE reason for its closing? I am well aware of the controversy related to its demise. Id like to separate fact from fiction here like adults can and will.

Some said because of competition from Great America. One said racial reasons.

I remember it and I think car dealers are taking up that space now. Just down the street on the SW corner of Harlem and Joliet Rd. used to be a nickel pony ride but it's all forest preserve now.

We knew the amusement park on 95th and Pulaski as "Kiddie Land". Not sure if it was "Kiddie Town" officially.

It was convenient to where we lived and had rides that were the perfect scale for really young kids.

I never liked the place though. My parents used to put us on a Ferris Wheel, and it would inevitably stop to pick up more riders, leaving me dangling and rocking in the small car at the top. When I think about it the wheel was probably only 25 feet high or so, but to a four year old who could slip under the restraining bar on the car, it seemed as tall as the Empire State Building. To this day the Ferris Wheel at Navy Pier gives me the creeps. I'll never get on it.

Kiddie Land was a great deal for young parents and children of the era, though. Now it's all so complex and far and expensive.

I am having a senior moment. My wife and I were on the Tri-State near 79th Street the other day, and neither of can recall the name of the amusement park that was near 79th and Wolf Road, just off the Tri-State. Help.

I don't think it was Kiddyland, at least that does not ring a bell.

Does anyone remember a Kiddyland on the north side of Chicago around Lincoln Ave. and Devon Ave.? This would be in the early 70's.

Adventureland closed in late 70's and moved some rides to Santa's Village. The site is now part of DuPage Co. Forest Preserves. For awhile in the 80's the old parking lot sat with overgrown weeds, but now covered with mounds of dirt.
