St. Stanislaus Bishop & Martyr at 5352 West Belden St. use to have for many years a carnival in back of the church. The carnival was very popular and packed in the people from the neighborhood and other neighborhoods. They had bingo, games, Polish Polka bands, dancing and the beer was flowing. You would see kids at the carnival early but at night it turned into almost just adults. I think with change of the area of Polish turning much into a Hispanic neighborhood the carnival stopped. The closing of the St. Stanislaus School could of been another factor the carnival stopped.

I can remember a lot of churches in the 70's and 80's having carnivals. My friends dad won a car from a carnival at St. Gregory.
