bachelors grove road

Does anybody remember the old bachelors grove road that ran between 135th and 143rd street? It had nothing to do with the cemetery , it was by Bachelors Grove Woods right near 143rd & justamere road ?

I don't know that it was ever officially Bachelors Grove Road but it definitely had a reputation for gentlemen waiting to meet others of a like mind. I'm not sure but I think the Cook County Sheriff PD got tired of policing it and for that reason it was eliminated. Traveling on 135th in the Spring you could see it would often flood so that combined with the bad rep was a no-brainer; get rid of it.

According to Google maps there is a small stub of the road left that leads to a parking lot, and indeed named Bachelors Grove Rd (at least according to Google)

yes correct , if you look at this road on www.historicaerials and push the time slider back to the 50,s or 60,s you can see farms and I think there was a orchard too, last summer I walked it , and it s in bad condition .
