South side riding stables

I went in the wintertime about 1967-8 to a stable with a girl I was working at a restaurant with called Eat- a-bit. Off Grand and Austin. She says, lets take the day off and go horseback riding. So I went with her and my sister on a blizzard of a day and when we got on the horses we rode out to the clearing and then my sister's horse fell. I was in shock...literally in shock. I have no sense of direction, at least less then than now. Betty was on this giant horse as far as I could see and I was petrified the horse fell on her. Well, she got up and on the horse again. The branches were falling off the trees everywhere, the snow was coming down like no tomorrow and the horses just wanted to get back to the stables. They couldn't get back fast enough! Dang....that was a day I meant to put out of my memory for a long time to come. I pet horses now!
