For anyone interested in the history of the Southwest Side of Chicago, the Clear-Ridge Historical Society has just finished reprinting the book, "A Littile Known Story of a Land Called Clearing." by Robert Hill. This book, originally self published in 1983, tells the story of the Clearing Neighborhood as well as many of the surroundings areas. It contains one of the earliest histories of Midway Airport as well as the Clearing Industrial District and the Belt Line Railyards. This enhanced edition adds hundreds of photos and many pages of background information.

Copies can be purchased online at:
http://www.lulu.com/shop/robert-hill/a-little-known-story-of-the-land-called-clearing/paperback/product-20958969.html

Copies can also be purchased locally at Midway Jewelers, 5635 West 63rd St. 773-767-1633. All proceeds go to the Clear-Ridge Historical Society. For more information you can email the society at clearridgehistory@yahoo.com.

Robert Milton Hill signed my copy of his book 20 years ago; it is a real and lasting contribution to a "Little Known" history of Clearing and Chicago.

This book is reprinted with the full permission of the Hill family. After Robert "Moose" Hill passed away in 2010 we were asked to help the family make sense of all of his photo's and other research. What came out of it was this reprint of the book with all of the corresponding photos and the background information that was learned from going through his research. It really turned out great.
