Fire escape on Tivoli Theater

In responding to my request for a photo of Engine 63 Firehouse, which I thoroughly appreciate, It was noted that it included the fire escape at the back of the Tivoli. I grew up with a number of cousins who were similar to the Dead End Kids or Bowery Boys. While walking down the alley,I looked up to see cops chasing my cousins down the fire escape. They had walked in the front entrance and pused the usher to one side and then sat down to watch the movie. The cops were called and the chase was on. One cousin was thrown in the back of a squad and rolled across the back seat, jumped out, then jumped a fence and ran through a backyard and disappeared. Another jumped and caught his arm on a window's steel bars and broke his arm. He ran to our home and my mother brought him to the hospital. Such was life in the "Old Days." TomC
