In 1958, Carson Pirie Scott sponsored a contest for the most imaginative plan for Chicago in 100 years. The winner of "Chicago 2058" won $20,000.

"the main feature of their layouts is the concept of maintaining the Loop's concentration of economic, social, and civic life with fewer large buildings and larger areas for parks and malls"
