Remember Happy Day Stables on Cumberland

I remember going out to this stable a couple of times with my family. It was so exciting for me coming out from Albany Park to what seemed like the country at the time
(mid 1960's.). I loved horses. One time my grandfather
Went with us and used to brag about his horsemanship then
he didn't want to ride. My Mom said,"Pa, you're riding."
Upon riding in circles in the ring his horse promptly bit
the horse in front of him....think there was a change of horses after that. I remember my Mom saying to the stable
boy,"Don't you have a stool for mounting?". So funny at the time. Can't believe it was so long ago.

I used to live and work there (A Barn)in the summers in the late '60's. Bob Larson ran the livery business for Roy. I took lessons there 2 times a week and roy would always let me ride one of his "C" Barn horses. I have some great memories from there. Names I remember Lois, Dee Larsen, Paula Oken(Marshall), Pat (she raised Dobermans)Mike Cole (died young)
