Can anyone tell me the history of this building. It's huge and looks quite old.

The Sanborn Fire Map, Volume 8 from 1914, shows this building as the Otis Elevator Co. Foundry.

just a couple of years ago the rail viaduct that went over 16th and into the building was removed. to bad, it was pretty interesting.

and a couple of miles straight north of here is otis elementery.

You are welcome, Mercer52, anytime! And, davem60612, you are correct! On the Sanborn Map you can see where the tracks crossed over 16th from the main line and on into the Otis wareyard. And if you go to Google Street View you can still actually see where the tracks once ran.

Neat how the east wall of the building later built on the ware yard is curved to accomodate the tracks!
