Very Old Telephone Manhole Cover

A few months ago I took a stroll around the Essanay Studios building on Argyle. In the alley to the west of the building I noted this old manhole cover from the Chicago Telephone Company, which changed to Illinois Bell in 1920. I thought these had disappeared years ago so was quite happy to see one still in use. I'll bet most people visit the old studio without noticing this other great piece of Chicago history.
